The commentary section of this site is to allow readers to provide additional insight into issues and ask questions about stories presented here. We seek thoughtful commentary that reflects a desire to elevate discourse on the subjects presented.
We require registration to monitor users, but any personal data you offer us is only for our use and will not be shared with anyone else.
We are requiring contributors to use their full names and towns of residence with their comments. Like letters to the editor to newspapers must be signed and verifiable, so should comments made in the online world.
We have some rules you must agree to follow or your post will be removed and you can be blocked from making any additional contributions. We have the right, but not the obligation, to monitor posts and remove content we find offensive for any reason.
You may not:
- Submit content that infringes upon the copyrights or other intellectual property of another person.
- Post comments that degrades others based upon race, age, class, gender, ethnicity, religion, sexual preference or disability.
- Offer language that is obscene or vulgar, or promotes hate speech.
- Submit commentary that is a personal attack on another individual.
You may:
- Challenge any claims made in stories by providing evidence.
- Make suggestions for additional ways to cover a particular topic.
- Offer ideas to help resolve conflict introduced in stories.
- Write you own views on a topic, but it’s best to support those views with the best possible evidence.
You understand that the Tombstone Epitaph, the School of Journalism, the University of Arizona and the Arizona Board of Regents are not liable for any comment posted on this site. You understand that you are fully responsible for any content you submit.
